Originally introduced in 1988, the Air Tight ATM-2 quickly became one of the company’s most celebrated amplifiers, earning awards and a loyal following for its musicality and craftsmanship. Now, more than 30 years later, the new ATM-2Plus reimagines this classic design with modern refinements while preserving the timeless Air Tight aesthetic.

Inside, every stage of amplification has been redesigned to meet the demands of today’s tube landscape. The adoption of 6CG7/6FQ7 tubes provides greater drive and lower distortion than the 12AU7s used in the original, while re-engineered negative feedback ensures tighter damping for modern loudspeakers. At its core, massive 100W-class Tamura output transformers deliver powerful low-end authority, paired with a hand-wound Japanese power transformer that expands soundstage depth and clarity.

The chassis remains faithful to the original look but now features hidden fasteners for a cleaner presentation, firmer grounding, and added protection with fast-breaking fuses. As always, the ATM-2Plus is built without printed circuit boards—each unit is hand-assembled and point-to-point wired by skilled craftsmen in Takatsuki, Osaka.
