Our hi-fi Philosophy

Why Our Brands—and Our Approach—Are Different

We have a soft spot for every piece of audio equipment that passes through our hands. Sure, we’re running a business – but at heart we’re audiophiles first and foremost. We began (and continue) as a labor of love, born from a genuine passion for hi-fi gear and the music it reproduces. Many of our team members started out as collectors and tinkerers themselves, long before joining the company. That’s why our mission goes beyond just buying and selling; it’s about preserving the legacy of vintage audio and sharing it with the community. We often say that these aren’t just electronics – they’re pieces of history. Every classic Marantz receiver or Thorens turntable has a story, and our job is to honor that story by treating the equipment with respect and care, and finding it a happy new home.

When we test and refurbish a 1970s amplifier, we’re conscious that we’re bringing back to life something that might be older than some of our customers. There’s a reverence in that process. We take pride in doing it right – using the proper methods, sometimes sourcing original parts, and always maintaining the integrity of the piece. Our warehouse is a living museum of audio history, with gear from every decade. One day we might be handling a 1965 Fisher tube amp, the next day a 1985 Nakamichi cassette deck. It never gets old for us. We genuinely love this stuff, and that passion is what drives the care and attention we give to each unit.

Another big part of our ethos is community. We’re not isolated dealers; we’re active members of the vintage hi-fi community and the broader audiophile world. We share tips, restoration notes, and historical info on forums and our blog. We’ve been featured in magazines like Stereophile for our expertise in used gear, and we’ve earned the trust of over 100,000 fellow enthusiasts over the years. We see ourselves as custodians of hi-fi heritage, bridging the gap between generations of gear and owners. When you buy a classic piece from us, you become part of that story as well. It’s extremely rewarding for us to hear from customers who are enjoying a piece of gear that we rescued and restored. Maybe it’s their first time experiencing the warm glow of tubes or the tactile pleasure of a vintage turntable – and we helped make that connection possible. That’s what keeps us motivated every day.

Finally, we want to reassure you that our commitment to these values – expertise, honesty, outstanding packing, and genuine love for the gear – is unwavering. We know entrusting someone with your hard-earned money (and perhaps a piece of audio history) requires trust. Over 20+ years, we’ve worked hard to earn that trust, one successful delivery at a time. Our feedback is full of praise not just for the items themselves, but for the care we put into every aspect of the transaction. We don’t take that for granted. By combining professional standards with a personal, enthusiast’s touch, we aim to give you the best possible experience.

When you deal with RAV, you’re dealing with people who love hi-fi as much as you do.

Our Project Portfolio

As a deliberately small firm, we have the benefit of focusing our attention on just a few select projects at once - the result is dedicated, hands-on management of each project, and a level of service, attention to detail, responsiveness and customized solutions that larger firms simply can't provide.
