DESCRIPTION
Designed by digital audio pioneer Rob Watts, the DAVE is famous for eschewing standard off-the-shelf DAC chips. Instead, it uses a massively powerful, custom-coded Spartan 6 Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) to handle digital-to-analog conversion and timing reconstruction.

- DAC Architecture: Proprietary 164,000-tap FPGA (Spartan 6 LX75) paired with a 20-element pulse array.
- Supported Formats: PCM from 44.1kHz up to 768kHz (16–32 bit) and native DSD up to DSD512.
- Headphone Output Power: Direct-drive output delivering up to 1.4W into 33Ω and 154mW into 300Ω.
- Output Impedance: Ultra-low 0.055Ω for maximum headphone compatibility.
- Inputs: 1x USB Type-B, 2x Optical Toslink, 1x AES/EBU XLR, and 4x BNC Coaxial S/PDIF.
