Tuneful Cables Jupiter 16GA Speaker Cables are built for listeners who love the natural tone of classic tinned-copper speaker wire but want more refinement, openness, and immediacy than our Belden 9497 speaker cable model.

Our Belden 9497 speaker cables have earned a loyal following for their lively, musical, high-value sound. This Jupiter 16GA design keeps the same tinned-copper soul but moves into a more elevated, boutique construction: larger-feeling tone, greater clarity, more natural decay, and a more dimensional presentation.

Each stereo pair is assembled by hand in Brooklyn using Jupiter’s stranded tinned-copper twisted-pair speaker cable with lacquered cotton insulation. We terminate each cable with custom-made Tuneful silver-plated beryllium BFA banana plugs and Cardas Quad Eutectic silver solder.

The result is a lightweight, flexible, natural-sounding speaker cable with the warmth and color people love about tinned copper, but with more openness, presence, and refinement than our Belden 9497 model.

How they sound:
Compared with Tuneful’s Belden 9497 speaker cables, the Jupiter 16GA speaker cables sound more open, spacious, and refined. Bass has excellent texture and flow rather than simply weight. Voices and acoustic instruments feel more present and dimensional. Cymbals, strings, and room decay come through with more air and less haze.

The overall balance is still musical and natural, but the Jupiter cable sounds clearer, more expressive, and more emotionally alive.

Why they improve on our Belden 9497 model:
Belden 9497 is a classic 16 AWG tinned-copper speaker cable with PVC insulation and a tight twisted-pair design. It is lively, direct, and a wonderful value.

The Jupiter 16GA cable uses stranded tinned copper in lacquered cotton insulation. That natural dielectric gives the cable a freer, more relaxed character, with less of the slightly plastic-damped feel that can come from PVC-jacketed cable. In listening terms, that means better texture, more natural decay, a more open midrange, and a more organic sense of flow.

Yazaki-san of SPEC Corporation praised Jupiter’s 16GA wire for its lively character and “clearness without any cloudiness,” which matches what we hear in our own listening.
