Adam Wexler - Owner & CEO

Adam Wexler Resolution Audio & Video NYC

Adam Wexler’s passion for music, technology and high-fidelity sound took root early in his life. As a young boy he was introduced to hi-fi music systems through his father’s stereo setup, sparking a lifelong  fascination with technology and sound.

This love of music and technology followed Wexler to college. There, in 1999, he launched his first venture – StereoBuyers – right out of his dorm room. The idea was born when Wexler spotted used audio gear at a local hi-fi shop and, witnessing the dawn of ecommerce and a new start up called eBay, he offered to sell the store’s dusty and stale traded-in equipment online on commission “They said ‘Yes’ – and I never looked back,” Wexler recalls of that first consignment deal By the time he graduated Ithaca in 2001, StereoBuyers had already planted its seeds as a viable business model combining his entrepreneurial spirit with his love of music and tech.

After college, Wexler deepened his industry experience by working at established audio retailers in New York city. He quickly rose through the ranks to become one of New York’s top high-end A/V salesmen and smart home system designersIn 1999, alongside his day job Wexler officially opened StereoBuyers as a business, laying the foundation for what would become decades of involvement in the hi-fi arena. What started as a dorm-room hustle evolved into a family-run enterprise based in Brooklyn, fueled by Wexler’s enduring love for music and technology and people.

By 2009, armed with years of experience in both selling vintage audio gear and designing smart home systems, Wexler embarked on a new venture: Resolution Audio Video (RAV). He founded RAV as a boutique firm specializing in high-end audio/video and smart home integration, to serve clients who wanted more than just individual components – they wanted complete, seamless home technology solutions. Launching RAV allowed him to apply his hi-fi expertise, and attention to detail, to whole-home systems and custom projects, bringing his aesthetic and perfectionist ethos into the world of smart homes.

Adam's approach to business is rooted in honesty and a deep interest and understanding of his clients needs. He believes in educating them so they feel empowered to make informed decisions. A consultative approach rather than pushy sales.

Overall…people over profit. The team he has assembled has an ownership mentality… if a client isn’t happy they aren’t happy. This philosophy has been a cornerstone of his success, fostering trust and long-term relationships with clients.

When it comes to hi-fi systems, his philosophy is a refreshing one. He emphasizes the importance of personal preference in audio equipment, advising clients to choose what resonates with them personally.

Over the years, Adam has carefully grown his business to a team of expert technicians, engineers, and installers. The company has expanded its physical footprint in Red Hook, Brooklyn. What began as Adam first  working out of his dorm then a friend’s small workshop closet eventually led to a proper 7,500-square-foot space on the waterfront. Adam has created a veritable playground for tech and music lovers, complete with multiple listening rooms to demo high-end systems in a cozy, home-like environment
